モナハンの作品は有形のようで無形で、抽象的で寓話的、軽く、そして重く、鋭く切り込まれ、優雅に形を表す。その彫刻は、SF、古代主義、宗教的アイコノグラフィー、モダニズムが競合し、混乱した歴史の中から生まれた。
ガラス、スポンジ、蜂の巣状の網と表面加工紙を合わせた彫刻やドローイングで多次元を作り出し、重力の法則を無視し、宙にぽっかり浮かぶような感覚を演出する。そういった抑圧を打ち破り、再び命を吹き込まれる瞬間が捕らえられている。
